Beautiful book about the painful reality of life （especially in the 60s to the 80s） Love how Taylor Jenkins Reid approached difficult subject matter such as homosexuality and misogyny。 I particularly liked the scene of her last marriage （ifykyk） I like how the author conveyed that marriage is not just about the legal documents。 All a marriage is is a promise

el como transcurrió su vida durante su carrera， contando como fueron sus 7 matrimoniosA mi en lo personal me gustó como esta narrado， pues no se quedan mucho en un momento ya que bás Así que nunca he personal me gustó como esta narrado， pues no se quedan mucho en un momento ya que básicamente es una viejita contando su historia entonces tiene que pasar los años rápido y eso la verdad me gusta， en la mayoría del libro nos tenemos que comes como 5 capítulos con lo que pasa en un solo día en cambio acá te cuentan lo importante y te mantiene entretenidoTambién me gusto como te muestra partes de artículos de la época mostrando las noticias que salían porque era como un plus para acomodarte en la fecha que se estaba contando⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Ahora si lo que pensé de las situaciones y escenas y bla bla bla… （contiene spoilers）⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Al principio admito que estaba algo perdida porque te tiran de una como un pequeño resumen de sus maridos y como se divorciaron， como “su matrimonio con Don Adler y los rumores de su separación fue causada porque el la golpeaba） admito que volví a ese resumen varias veces para ver cuanto le duraba cada marido JAJAJA Me gusta como retrata el camino de Evelyn， como ella expresa que lo que le ayuda es su belleza y como hace lo que necesita para alcanzar lo que quiere sin llenar el libro de dramas morales innecesarios， mejor dicho， que la protagonista no se la pase arrepentida de lo que hace ya que eso aveces cansa en la mayoría de libros porque es como “amiga pues si no querías hacerlo no le hacías” en cambio a Evelyn no le importaba， ella hacia lo que consideraba y punto， así como dice la propia Evelyn “ no me arrepiento de las cosas que hice （al menos no de las que tú creerías） aunque hayan sido difíciles o puedan parecer repugnantes a la luz del día” Evelyn no se la pasaba lamentándose de sus desiciones y eso me encantaLa situación con Celia， entiendo el punto de demostrar lo difícil que era ser mujer y estar con una mujer románticamente en esa época， me gusta como se retratan los problemas que ellas pasan debido a la presión social， como tienen que ocultarse para poder seguir con su estilo de vida， pero tengo que admitir que me estresaba mucho， porque yo quería que ellas pudieran estar juntas sin problema y todas esas cosas pero sabia que no iban a poder。 La actitud de Celia muchas veces me dio ganas de meterme al libro y pegarle， a Evelyn igual， pero es que agh como ella se enojaba por todo y de cierto modo siempre acababa lastimando a Evelyn con muchos de sus comentarios， y entiendo que varias cosas que hizo Evelyn estuvieron mal pero también creo que Celia debió haberle pensado mas cada vez que se alejo sin intentar entender a Evelyn。 Cuando ella se caso y se acosto con Mick， la verdad nose que pensó Celia que iba a pasar conociendo que el plan de Evelyn era casarse con Mick sin pedirle directamente que lo hiciera por x razón， entonces entiendo que eso la enojara pero también creo que Celia se fue sin intentar entender el porque lo hizo， aunque también se que estuvo mal que Evelyn ni siquiera intentara detenerla o buscarlaLo que paso con la película y Don， desde el momento que Evelyn dijo que si sin decirle a Celia sabia que eso iba a salir muy mal， siguiendo la lógica del libro， Celia solía enojarse por esas cosas y alejarse por años， entonces en ese momento si me quede como a ver amiga Evelyn porque haces esto， pero aquí vuelo con mi humilde opinion， a mi parecer Celia lo exagero， se que eso debía de ser duro pues era su ex esposo， pero también se podia ver como a Celia no le gustaba que Ev estuviera con hombres， ademas， era una escena que ella sabia iba a ser actuada y por mucho que Evelyn le pidió perdón por básicamente no pedirle permiso de hacer una escena sobre su propio cuerpo， Celia no la escuchaba， o si pero era demasiado obstinada para perdonarla， como dije， solo salía corriendo cada que este tipo de cosas se presentaran， pero bueno cada quien con su opinion sobre como Celia manejaba estas situacionesMe dolió cada muerte retratada， odie como murió harry， llore como 20 minutos por el， odie como después de que Evelyn y Celia se “casaran” ella muriera en la siguiente pagina （entiendo， narración rápida de los hechos） odie como murió la hija de Evelyn sabiendo que era lo único que le quedaba， siento que Evelyn paso por muchas cosas y al final se volvió a quedar solaSobre el final， puede que no entendiera muy bien como quedo la biografía， pues me hubiera gustado que se mostrara o explicara un poco como iba a ser escrita o como lo iba a tomar la gente cuando lo leyera， pues me quede con la dudaLo que paso cuando harry se murió， como Evelyn inculpo al hombre con el que harry iba para intentar salvarlo， que si lo ven bien， en realidad si harry hubiese sobrevivido igual no iba a poder salir adelante después de lo que paso， entiendo que Evelyn no quería que su hija supiera lo que había hecho harry pero también me pareció un poco egoísta de su parte， y que con el hecho de que el hombre era en realidad el padre de Monique。 La verdad verdad， me pareció un poco dramático como Evelyn siempre decía que la iba a odiar y que no tenia redención y todo eso， ósea si entiendo que lo que hizo fue horrible pero vuelvo a lo mismo， hay que ponerse en sus zapatos y ver que muchos habrían hecho lo mismo （en mi humilde opinion） Y pues ya la verdad no se que mas agregar， es un libro super entretenido （me lo lei en menos de 2 días） pero sinceramente me lo imagine mejor， no estoy diciendo que no sea bueno， solo que la gente diciendo que era severa obra de arte， cuando lo lei vi que no es mayor cosa， no es mi libro favorito pero si esta buenoY perdón si la reseña esta horrible pero as i said nunca había hecho esto JAJAJJAA 。。。more

I went into this book knowing almost nothing and i am so glad because this book is remarkable。 I had no idea where the book would go and thought i wouldn’t like it but it’s now one of my favourite reads ever！ Being a bisexual woman myself， this book makes me feel so valid and so seen。

I thoroughly enjoyed this book; an enthralling tale of ambition， fame and love。 I went into the story thinking it would be an easy， "beach read" 。 Yet I found that though it reads fast， it touches on very important themes such as sexuality， domestic abuse and the different challenges women had to live through before our times （especially in male dominated industries）。 The writing is nothing special， but I found the plot to be very well constructed and original。 Characters were quite well develop I thoroughly enjoyed this book; an enthralling tale of ambition， fame and love。 I went into the story thinking it would be an easy， "beach read" 。 Yet I found that though it reads fast， it touches on very important themes such as sexuality， domestic abuse and the different challenges women had to live through before our times （especially in male dominated industries）。 The writing is nothing special， but I found the plot to be very well constructed and original。 Characters were quite well developed for a book with less than 400 pages long。We make so many decisions through life trying to protect "what we've built"， but is that what we want still？ Will we look back and be proud on the decisions we made and how we decided to spend our time？ All in all great book， was hooked since the beginning and left me thinking once finished。 Good reminder that most of the times things are not what they seem。 。。。more
